foreign aid in the identification of fish!?

found a strange fish off the coast of Myrtle Beach, SC Details: approx. 8 "long. Dorsal and lateral fins are soft burgundy, dark brown body was dirty and was cream-colored underbelly. his teeth were small and the lines of iridescent spots along the body (not many, maybe two or three lines on each side of fish). the shape of a tadpole, with a large head, almost leading to a bulbous thin tail. I did not realize a ventral fin. Anybody know what this is? seemed almost bioluminescent points, but I will not assume anything. Was not connected, freshly washed and was dying. Help me please!

That sounds like a midshipman (genus Porichthys). If he was a midshipman, the points that you saw were actually bioluminescence. Getting the right exposure is essential for any kind of photo quality.

Exposure is the amount of light that is left in the chamber, contributing to the picture that is recorded. A good presentation is the right amount of light to produce a balanced shot.

Light is the key word here. Allow the correct amount of light can be difficult, but fortunately our cameras have automatic features to measure it. Some cameras allow manual feature which means you can manipulate the amount of light reaching the camera. If we allow that too, the picture becomes overexposed, ie the image is too light and washing. Details to be difficult to see in an overexposed photo.

To light the same effect as if we leave too little in photography is underexposed. This means that the outlook is darker than it should be. This makes the picture grim and sad looking, but still underexposing better than overexposure. Why? Because the image can be clarified later, and the details will still be there, while in an overexposed photo, the details can not be rescued because they were never captured in the first place.

Your camera will have a role to adjust the brightness. This is symbolized by the + or – symbol, usually allowing you to adjust the light 3 stops in both directions. You need to do this before taking the picture. For example, you could take a picture of a tree, and decide it's too bright in the sun. So you need to change the exposure to -1, then take the shot again and see if it helped. If it is too bright can be reduced to -2 and see if the vaccine is satisfactory.

This is sometimes called brackets. When you take the same plane, but with different exposures from -2 A -1 to 1 to 1 to 2, this is in parentheses. It gives you the option to choose the best photograph of the group.

Measurement

The measurement is how the camera decides on the correct exposure. The camera meter measures the amount of light in the area where you are taking the photograph. Ideally, the chamber was collected in a mid tone area that is neither too dark nor too light, so that the light is balanced. When you buy a DSLR be given some options in the subway how images.

There is no 'center weighted "or" average measurement ". This means that the camera will take an average of light in the scene. Too much greater contrast between darkness and light confuses the camera. Measurement of the average would mean that the whole scene was brilliant and meter incorrectly. With spot metering, you can choose a gray area that the camera does not overestimate the light and compensate accordingly.

A good way to get to the spot metering is the choice of function and targeting different areas of the same scene and take photographs. Then compare how the choice of the different areas affect the final image.

Most professionals choose spot metering for landscape photography as it gives greater control.

Flash

Flash is commonly used with point and shoot cameras, but is used with caution in photographs of landscapes and wildlife.

Flash is normally attached to the camera. When the camera detects low light, the flash displays automatically, although you can manually adjust the settings so it will stay down.

If you need more power, you can buy a head of flash separately. This is common in the press and fashion photography, where they spend a lot of time working at night or indoors and need to be able to capture images of uniform illumination, when there is plenty of action in place without any risk of confusion or poor lighting.

Flash is useful in a situation at night. If no other light source, then you have to use the flash, although you can use creative techniques such as delayed flash to capture some movement and light trails.

In general, however, the effect with flash can be harsh. It is also suitable for reflective surfaces like mirrors, because the bright light shining into the camera again. For landscape photography you need to know how to turn the flash off, especially if you are using a slow shutter speed for the specific blur as the camera automatically have to use a flash.

Flash is useful in dark situations as a filler in the light. This is known as fill flash, and is used when having a bright sun behind the subject and all that remains is the outline of the object. Using Flash put back into the picture detail.
