What are some ideas for healthy recipes with a student budget?

I'm looking for great recipes prudent budget that still HEALTHY! I making a cookbook of some of my friends who are students and am looking for healthy recipes! Please, no pork or fish.

Frozen whole fish question?

My husband has made a new friend who likes to fish. Although very enjoyable, which is not exactly the brightest pencil in the box with my husband Thomas says. We do not know much about fishing and such, but are concerned that this friend wants to come to the barbecue at our place and bring some of the fish you caught. The concern is partly because this is what I did: caught the fish, place fish in a cooler with ice for transport home when he got home, place the fish directly into the freezer in plastic bags. Should not have cleaned the fish immediately? That's what we thought it was a recommended practice before cooking or freezing. Can you defrost the whole fish stored in this way and then scale, bone, cleaning and cooking? Any hunters, fishermen, or cooks to make any comments for us? This fish is safe to eat?

It will be fine if the fish was cold and immediately was frozen. The ice storage decreased the decomposition of the intestines and the freezing stopped. When thawing the fish, immediately clean and gut them, do not let them get warm (which could even thaw in the fridge.) Many real fish market that will keep fish in good condition, has been gutted until you buy them and then clean for you. I would also gut the fish and wash the cavity before filleting fish or larger scale and this will give additional layer protection of digestive enzymes ofal and contaminate the meat that comes into contact. One of the best testers freshness of a fish is your nose, if it smells funky or "very suspicious", do not eat it. The fine to freeze the fish in the condition of everything, but I prefer gut first.

African cichlids come from the Rift Valley lakes of East Africa, notably Lake Tanganyika, Lake Malawi and Lake Victoria. Cichlids are popular aquarists due to the wide variety of species to choose from. They are characterized by different behaviors that can be entertaining to watch. They are more human like behaviors, such as caring their young, than other types of fish that can ingratiate himself to the owner and the visitors of the aquarium. This variety and diversity often makes it difficult to set up a tank. This article will discuss some of the considerations in creating an African cichlid fish tank and what kind of light to use for the fish to be seen properly.

First, it should try to get the right mix of fish in the aquarium. Cichlids can be herbivores or predators. You should avoid putting herbivorous fish with predatory fish unless they are considerably larger predatory fish.

You should also try to maintain species in specific lakes together. So keep the fish from Lake Tanganyika in a fish tank and Lake Malawi in another.

Most African cichlids are territorial and like caves and fissures to create a nest or to rest in This means rocks, stones and wood that make up the terrain in your tank. Cichlids often destroy plant life, either during playback or, apparently, for the fun of it, so you should avoid plants have in their tanks of cichlids. Plastic plants are an alternative if you like the look of green in the aquarium.

Thus the design and composition of your tank determines how to operate lighting. Some cichlids are colorful and look better in bright light. Most are not as colorful and look better in dim light. Perhaps installing a rheostat controlled lighting system that can be adjusted to suit your needs if you have colorful and less colorful fish.

Without plants there is no need to have the lights on all the time. Just turn on the lights when you want to see the tank. This reduce the amount of algae accumulate.

The illumination is essentially a personal choice that is determined by the type of fish which are kept and how many rocks and pieces of driftwood that are in your tank. Having a variable lighting system gives you the ability to turn off the lights when not needed to prevent growth algae and give their time off fish.
